Chickpea Imports By India Open On Weak Tone

PANAMA - Jun 7/22 - SNS -- Imports of chickpeas for India were well down, plunging versus the previous month in March, recent data from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics reveals.

Imports reached 5,830 metric tons (MT) during the month, down 53% from the 12,408 MT exported the previous month. Imports so far total 59,009 MT, compared to 70,326 in the same period the previous calendar year.

Current trade statistics showed Sudan was most important export origin, shipping 3,144 MT during the month. Tanzania was the second most important origin selling 2,035 MT, followed by Singapore at 240 MT.
