Uncertainty Over Chickpea Area

PANAMA - May 27/22 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were little changed in relatively light trading during the past week.

Worries about North American yields have eased because of a reversal in soil moisture conditions in much of the growing area. But, it has come with doubts about the final planted area because of the slow pace of seeding some areas.

Available data suggests around 63% of the intended crop in the United States was planted as the week got underway, compared to 72% last year and the recent five year average of 68%.
