Chickpea Exports From Australia Start With Weak Tone

PANAMA - May 5/22 - SNS -- At this point in this marketing year with a softer note, with chickpea exports for Australia sank compared to the previous month in March, judging from the latest data from Australia Bureau of Statistics.

Total shipments for the month amounted to 35,563 metric tons (MT), down 65% from the previous month's total of 102,259. So far movement has totalled 324,633 MT, down from 511,363 during the previous marketing year.

The latest movement statistics showed Bangladesh was top consumer, receiving 17,804 MT. Nepal was the second most important buyer receiving 7,337 MT, followed by Pakistan at 2,937 MT.
