Sunflower Seed Exports From Russia Post Weak Month

PANAMA - May 3/22 - SNS -- Opened the current calendar year amanagedan easier performance, with sunflower seed export shipments from Russia were well down, plunging relative to the previous month in January, according to available data from Federal Customs Service of Russia.

Shipments for the opening month of the calendar year totalled 20,480 metric tons (MT), down 42% from 35,255 MT the previous month. The statistics revealed export sales is up 245% from the 5,944 MT reported during the same month last year.

Recent movement statistics showed Kazakhstan was number one consumer, buying 16,942 MT in the month. Belarus was the second most important destination taking 2,432 MT, followed by China at 492 MT.
