Lentils Generally Firmer

PANAMA - Apr 8/22 - SNS -- Lentil markets ended the week's trading on a generally firmer note as stocks believed remaining in Canada and the United States continue to tighten relative to prospective demand.

Australian red lentils ended the week with a firmer undertone. That market continues to be strongly influenced by vessel availability and efforts by exporters to meet their immediate shipping needs.

Concerns remain about the likely size of this year's rabi season harvest. The first estimate should be available during the last half of May and seems likely to show production was up over last year, possibly advancing from 1.49 to at least 1.588 million metric tons (MT).
