Price Volatility In Mustard

PANAMA - Apr 8/22 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets remain volatile in the face of tight supplies relative to prospective demand and grower selling resistance on spot markets.

Farmers remain reluctant sellers because of the ability to generate good cash returns from their grains and oilseeds and other specialty crops.

Processors report strong interest in contracting new crop production in western Canada, likely driven by historically high new crop contract prices. Spreads between spot and new crop are relatively high, but with average yields growers anticipate unusually strong gross returns per acre.
