Lentils Take U.S. Intentions in Stride

PANAMA - Apr 1/22 - SNS -- International lentil markets paid little attention to the USDA's seeding intentions report, which called for an 11% increase in total area this year.

Farmers in the United States said they plan to seed 788,000 acres of lentils, up from 708,000 last year and well above the 523,000 sown in 2020.

Aaa states except Idaho reported increases in expected plantings, with Montana remaining the most important producing region, accounting for 580,000 acres, up from 530,000 last year. North Dakota is the second most important with farmers saying they will increase area from 120,000 to 140,000.
