WASHINGTON - Mar 31/22 - SNS -- Sorghum growers intend to plant 6.21 million acres of sorghum for all purposes in 2022, down 15 percent from last year, according to the USDA seeding intentions estimates.
Kansas, the leading sorghum-producing State, is expecting 14 percent less sorghum acres in 2022 than last year.
Texas growers are expecting to plant 21 percent less sorghum acres than last year. As of March 20, Texas growers had planted 30 percent of their expected acreage, 3 percentage points behind last year but 1 percentage point ahead of the 5-year average.
