Mixed Reaction To U.S. Pea Output

PANAMA - Jan 14/22 - SNS -- North American field pea markets had a mixed reaction to the USDA's confirmation that this year's harvest was the smallest since 2011.

Production was 387,880 metric tons (MT), down from just over 984,000 the previous year and well below the previous five year average of 925,000.

Ending stocks from the 2020-21 marketing campaign are estimated at 110,000 MT, giving the United States an available supply of nearly 895,000 MT of all classes of peas, down from 1.315 million last season and the recent five year average of 1.29 million.
