WASHINGTON - Jan 12/22 - SNS --The U.S. chickpea harvest was pegged at 2.86 million cwt (100 pounds) or 129,744 metric tons (MT), down 30% from 2020, according to the final crop report for 2021.
Area planted for all chickpeas for the 2021 crop year was estimated at 368,500 acres, up 45% from the previous year.
Area harvested was estimated at 351,000 acres, 40% above 2020. The average yield at 815 pounds per acre is down 815 pounds from the 2020 season.
