SugarCane Production Dropped 9%
WASHINGTON - Jan 12/22 - SNS --Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed in 2021 was estimated at 33.0 million tons, of which 31.2 million tons were utilized for sugar and 1.80 million tons for seed, according to the USDA's final crop report for 2021.
Total production for sugar and seed was down 9% from 2020. Sugarcane producers harvested 937,500 acres for sugar and seed in 2021, down 1% from the previous year. Yield for sugar and seed was estimated at 35.2 tons per acre, up 2.9 tons from 2020.
