India's Rabi Seeding Pace Slows

PANAMA - Dec 20/21 - SNS -- The pace of seeding this year's rabi season pulse crops collapsed during the past week, with 41,000 hectares sown, bringing the total to 12.988 million, compared to 12.981 million at this time last year.

Progress is now behind the previous five year average of 13.254 million hectares planted by December 17.

If farmers plant an average area to pulses during the remainder of the rabi season planting window, total area could reach 16.086 million hectares, up down from the 16.738 million sown last year.
