Short Covered Keeps Mustard Hot

PANAMA - Dec 17/21 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets continued to firm during the past week as processors and exporters struggle to secure enough product to cover outstanding shipping commitments.

Though prices offered growers for farmers dressed No 1 Canada oriental mustard were unchanged, the upper end of the bid range for both brown and yellow gained 3% on the week, continuing to establish new record high bid levels.

Spreads between spot and new crop bid levels to growers are at historic highs. Even so, opening new crop prices offered farmers are also at historic highs.
