Peas Moving Sideways
PANAMA - Dec 10/21 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading little changed, though prices offered to farmers suggest a certain amount of short covering remains a factor in that side of the market.
Bulk movement of Canadian peas has slowed considerably since the start of the marketing year, while reports from processors and exporters suggest North American domestic buyers have covered their short term needs.
Even so, prices offered to growers remain strong, ranging between CDN $16.45 and $18.50 per bushel for yellow peas and between $15 and $16.75 for green.
