Solid Pea Disappearance Relative to Supply
PANAMA - Oct 15/21 - SNS -- Field pea markets maintained a firm tone through the past week in the face of relative rapid disappearance of product from North American farms.
Ongoing data is not available for the United States, but if growers in that country are taking advantage of markets to the same extent as their counterparts in Canada, supplies available to cover needs during the balance of the marketing year may be tighter than initially imagined.
Though overall deliveries by Canadian growers so far this season is down from last year, the proportion remaining on farms that may be available to markets has dropped from 62% of total on-farm stocks at this time last year to around 49%.
