Chickpea Maintain Firm Tone

PANAMA - Oct 15/21 - SNS -- International kabuli chickpea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, while there was again moderate easing in desi.

Australian exporters pulled back grower bids for all classes of chickpeas during the past week because of logistical issues. Container availability has become a significant problem, with the result exporters are trying to maintain a closer relationship between purchases from growers and their ability to move product.

By contrast, North American values remain strong, reflecting a steep reduction in production in both the United States and Canada and expectations imports need to increase to cover domestic usage levels.
