Modest Improvement in Rice Yields
WASHINGTON - Oct 12/21 - SNS -- Rice production in the United States is forecast at 191 million cwt (100 pound units), up slightly from the previous forecast but down 16% from 2020, according to the latest USDA production estimates for 2021.
Area for harvest is expected to total 2.50 million acres, unchanged from the previous forecast but down 16% from 2020.
Based on conditions as of October 1, the average United States yield is forecast at 7,625 pounds per acre, up 2 pounds per acre from the previous forecast, and up 6 pounds per acre from 2020.
