U.S. Bean Output Sinks 31%
WASHINGTON - Oct 12/21 - SNS -- This year's dry edible bean crop in the United States is now expected to drop 31% from last year and 3% below the August forecast to 22.6 million cwt (100 pound units) or 1.026 million metric tons (MT).
The latest production estimate from the USDA estimates harvest area at 1.34 million acres, down 4% from the August forecast and down 20% from 2020.
The yield is forecast at 1,686 pounds per acre, an increase of 11 pounds from the August forecast, but a decrease of 280 pounds from last season.
