Major Jump in Kharif Pulses Expected

DELHI - Sep 21/21 - SNS -- In its first advance estimate for production during the current kharif season, India's agriculture department forecast a 9.47 million metric ton (MT) pulse harvest, up from 8.69 million last year.

Production of all food grains was forecast to reach a record 150.50 million MT, up from 147.95 million last season. The kharif rice harvest is also expected to set a record, reaching 107.04 million MT, up from 104.41 last year.

Total kharif oilseeds production in the country during 2021-22 is estimated at 23.39 million MT, down from 24.031 million last year.
