USDA Boosts Lentil Area Estimate
WASHINGTON - Sep 10/21 - SNS - This year's lentil harvest in the United States is expected to drop 31% from last year to 5.10 million cwt or 231,000 metric tons (MT), according to the latest USDA production estimates.
Planted area, at 711,000 acres, is up 22% from the previous forecast and up 35% from last year.
Harvested area, at 667,000 acres, is up 22% from the previous forecast and up 30% from 2020.
The average yield is expected to be 763 pounds per acre, down 679 pounds from last year.
