Sugarcane Harvest Down 4%

WASHINGTON - Sep 10/21 - SNS - Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed in 2021 is forecast at 34.7 million tons, up 1% from last month but down 4% from 2020, according to the latest USDA production estimates.

Producers intend to harvest 931,000 acres for sugar and seed during the 2021 crop year, down slightly from last month and down 2% from 2020. Yields for sugar and seed are expected to average 37.3 tons per acre, up 0.5 ton from last month, but down 0.8 ton from 2020.
