U.S. Pea Harvest Beginning

WASHINGTON - Jul 13/21 - SNS -- Initial harvest activity has been reported in the United States, with 20% of Montana's seeded area now in the bin, according to reports from USDA state level offices.

Limited progress is also reported in Washington state and Oregon, suggesting around 101,000 acres of peas have been harvested, compared to roughly 10,000 at this time last year.

There are no indications about yields in the state level reports. Markets expect the first production estimate in September, but if yields are at least within 10% of their recent five year average around 88,000 metric tons (MT) of peas are now in bin, compared to roughly 7,000 at this time last year.
