PANAMA - Jul 9/21 - SNS -- International field pea markets finished the week's trading with a firm undertone over worries about production prospects in North America.

Much of the region is suffering from dry and hot conditions, resulting in deteriorating crop ratings and accelerating plant development in parts of the growing area. The combination is expected to result in below average yields and possibly smaller caliber product.

Export movement appears to be slowing, with many buyers adopting a wait and see attitude, while key markets such as China's feed industry explore other options. By contrast, the attention of exporters and processors is focused on crop conditions.
