Canada's Red Lentil Exports Open On Strong Tone
PANAMA - May 4/21 - SNS -- At this point in this marketing year with a a stronger tone, with red lentil export shipments for Canada rose sharply, leaping relative to the previous month in March, judging from the latest statistics from Statistics Canada.
Total shipments for the month amounted to 109,349 metric tons (MT), up 64% from the previous month's total of 66,585. So far shipments have totalled 963,138 MT, up from 948,550 in the same period the last marketing year.
In the month, United Arab Emirates was the number one consumer, buying 47,474 MT. Turkey was the second most important buyer taking 42,861 MT, followed by Pakistan at 7,310 MT.
