Birdseeds Continue Advances
PANAMA - Apr 2/21 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient prices maintained their firm tone through the past week against rapidly tightening stocks of white proso millet and canaryseed.
Prices paid for white pros millet advanced U.S. one cent per pound in Colorado and jumped four cents in Nebraska, lifting bids in that state to a premium to Colorado for the first time during the current marketing year.
The USDA seeding intentions report did not contain an estimate for millet, but the planned declines in sunflower area left several market participants worried about available supplies of all birdseed ingredients in the coming season.
