WASHINGTON - Mar 31/21 - SNS -- Cotton seedings in the U.S. could drop 1% from last year to 12.0 million acres, according to the USDA.
Upland area is expected to total 11.9 million acres, up slightly from 2020. American Pima area is expected to total 142,000 acres, down 30% from 2020. The largest increase in acres is expected in Missouri.
Compared with the previous year, 9 States are expected to plant fewer Upland cotton acres in 2021. If realized, Upland cotton planted area in California, at 25,000 acres, will be a record low.
