Mustard Mulls Production Data
PANAMA -Dec 4/20 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets posted a mixed finish on the week, with yellow posting a modest advance while brown and oriental were unchanged.
Markets were not overly surprised by Statistics Canada's final production estimate of the year, which pegged output of all classes at 98,800 metric tons (MT), down from 134,600 last year and well below the recent five year average of almost 158,000 MT.
Breaking down output by province, Statistics Canada said Alberta produced 36,500 MT from 80,000 acres, while Saskatchewan farmers grew 61,800 MT on 172,200 acres and other provinces produced 500 MT from 4,200 acres.
