Turkey Cuts Lentil Duty

WASHINGTON - Nov 10/20 - SNS -- Turkey has reduced the import duty on red lentils and eliminated the duty on sunflower seed,.

With the change, imports duties on red lentils drop from 19.3% to 9% until further notice, while sunflower seed import duties will be zero until June 2021.

Commenting on the change, the U.S agricultural attache for the country said "(because of ) a serious increase in international commodity prices and the Turkish Lira's depreciation . . . . the cost of imported goods has been increasing in Turkey, which has had large effects on domestic food and feed prices as well."
