Moderate Decline In Corn Yields

WASHINGTON - Nov 10/20 - SNS -- This year's corn harvest is now expected to reach 14.5 billion bushels, down 1% from the previous forecast but up 7% from 2019, according to the latest USDA crop production estimates.

Based on conditions as of November 1, yields are expected to average 175.8 bushels per harvested acre, down 2.6 bushels from the previous forecast but up 8.3 bushels from last year. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 82.5 million acres, unchanged from the previous forecast, but up 1% from the previous year. The 2020 corn area harvested for grain is forecast at 82.5 million acres, unchanged from the previous forecast, but up 1% from last year.

The November 1 corn objective yield data indicate the fourth highest number of ears on record for the combined 10 objective yield States (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin).
