Global Chickpea Inventories To Fall

PANAMA - Oct 16/20 - SNS -- International chickpea markets ended the week on a relatively firm note, with most sellers believing prices will trend upward because of limited availability of large caliber kabuli product.

Drought in key growing areas in Argentina caused by La Nina is expected to result in a significant reduction in both average yields and the caliber of this year's crop, echoing what was already seen in Russia this year.

Large inventories of small caliber kabuli chickpeas is having an impact on trading levels and competition for available demand in destinations such as India, Pakistan, and Turkey.
