Modest Strength in Birdseeds
PANAMA - Oct 16/20 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading with a generally firmer undertone despite modest price declines in the North American millet seed market.
By contrast, inter-dealer markets for Canadian canaryseed finished trading slightly higher as offers from growers slipped behind the short term needs of processors and exporters.
Oil type sunflower markets were also stronger on the week, despite improved availability of new crop product and expectations of a substantial increase in production levels. Strength in canola markets was likely a factor, offsetting any negative sentiment from declines in soybeans.
