PANAMA - Oct 9/20 - SNS -- North American lentil markets were unmoved by last week's upward revisions to Canadian ending stocks and production in both 2018 and 2019, with demand remaining the key factor affecting markets.
Statistics Canada now says 209,000 metric tons (MT) of all classes of lentils were carried over from the 2019-20 marketing year, well above its initial estimate of just 61,000 MT.
Ending stocks were also revised for the 2018-19 marketing year, jumping from 716,000 to 856,000 MT. Modest increases in historic production levels account for most of the increase.
