Rice Output Jumps
WASHINGTON - Oct 9/20 - SNS -- The U.S. rice harvest is expected to total 226 million cwt (100 pound units), up 1% from the previous forecast and up 23% from 2019, according to the USDA's latest crop production estimate.
Area for harvest is expected to total 2.99 million acres, up less than 1% from the previous forecast, and up 21% from 2019.
Based on conditions as of October 1, the average United States yield is forecast at 7,567 pounds per acre, up 38 pounds per acre from the previous forecast and up 96 pounds per acre from 2019.
