Canaryseed, Millet Prices Advance
PANAMA - Sep 11/20 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets ended the week's trading on a relatively strong note, with prices for both Canadian canaryseed and U.S. origin white proso millet advancing.
Canadian farmers saw a significant increase in prices during the week, with bids for farmers dressed product delivered processing plants ranging up to CDN 30 cents per pound, compared to 28 cents the previous week.
Provincial yield estimates for canaryseed helped reinforce bullish market sentiment, with crop reports thinking yields will average 1,221 pounds per seeded acre, compared to Statistics Canada's 1,232 pound estimate in August.
