Mustard Fundamentals Remain Worrisome

PANAMA - Sep 11/20 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets were unchanged on the week, with markets focussed on harvest progress and assessing the quality of this year's crop.

With Canada's harvest more than half complete as the week got underway, Saskatchewan Agriculture issued its own yield estimate for the province in advance of the September 14 Statistics Canada production report.

It pegged yields at 850 pounds per acre, compared to the 892 pounds forecast by Statistics Canada in August. If the provincial estimate is correct and seeded area does not change from current estimates, this year's harvest would come in at 86,400 metric tons (MT), down from last month's 91,100 MT forecast and the 134,600 produced last year.
