Mixed Week In Peas

PANAMA - Sep 4/20 - SNS -- International field pea markets posted a mixed finish during the past week, with values in Canada holding mostly steady while those in the United States were somewhat easier in the face of harvest selling pressure.

Harvests in both countries are making good progress. The U.S. harvest started the week at 72% complete, compared to 76% last year; while Canada's harvest was 72% complete, compared to just 36% at the same time last year.

This suggest almost 800,000 metric tons (MT) of new crop peas were in the bin the United States, compared to just over 721,000 at the same time last year. Canadian processors and exporters had around 1.83 million MT of new crop peas available, compared to just 796,000 at the same time last year.
