Birdseeds Hold Firm Tone
PANAMA - Sep 4/20 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets maintained their firm undertone during the opening days of September, with values for white proso millet and canaryseed advancing over prices seen in August.
Though disagreeing with Canadian production and ending stock estimates, neither set of numbers affect the supply dundamentals for canaryseed, with Canada expecting to be once again virtually sold out of product.
Many farmers holding product grown as long ago as 2013 capitulated during the opening weeks of the 2019-20 marketing campaign bringing what are believed to be actual residuals closer to Statistics Canada's estimates.
