WASHINGTON - Aug 31/20 - SNS -- This year's dry edible bean harvest in the United States is entering its initial stages, judging from state level crop reports.
Harvest remains most advanced in states with a higher proportion of chickpeas, but North Dakota reports 2% of the crop is now in the bin, compared to 1% last year and the recent average of 10% harvested by the end of August.
The coming week may see progress in Colorado, where 7% of the beans have been cut, and Wyoming, where 22% of the crop has been cut. In Michigan, beans sra starting to mature, with 18% now dropping leaves.
