Mustard Unchanged Despite Harvest

PANAMA - Aug 28/20 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets were unchanged on the week despite improved availability of new crop product in Saskatchewan because of solid harvest progress in the week ending August 24.

The provincial agriculture department reports 35% of the crop was in the bin, compared to 1% at the same time last year and the recent average of around 25%. Another 8% was ready to straight combine and 1% in swath.

Yields have been variable, making it difficult for processors to get an accurate gauge of the size of the overall crop. Farmers in parts of Saskatchewan are reporting premature ripening and heat stress in all crops.
