Birdseeds Remain Quiet
PANAMA - Aug 21/20 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets maintained their quiet tone through the past week, with little new business reported by processors and exporters.
As is normal, Canada's canaryseed harvest has yet to begin. However, trading levels for white proso millet in the United States remain firm, with farmers in some states seeing significant premiums.
Grower bids in Colorado are mostly around U.S. 15 cents per pound, compared to around 11.5 in Nebraska and up to 19 cents in Kansas. For millet sown as grain this year, around 24,000 acres were planted in Colorado, compared to 2,200 in Nebraska and just over 2,000 in Kansas.
