Poor Bean Ratings Drop 4 Points

WASHINGTON - Aug 17/20 - SNS -- The past week saw a modest improvement in the condition of dry edible bean crops across the United States with initial harvest activity reported in parts of the country, judging from state level crop reports.

The proportion of the U.S. crop rated good to excellent inched up from 64% to 66%, while the proportion rated very poor or poor dropped from 11% to 7%.

Minnesota is experiencing cool and wet conditions, which may be delaying the development of beans and has the potential to encourage plant diseases.
