PANAMA - Aug 14/20 - SNS -- Chickpea markets were unchanged in limited trading activity during the past week.
Canada's harvest has yet to get underway, while the past week saw the start of harvest activity in the U.S. Pacific northwest and Montana.
There is optimism production in Russia will be up this year, while Argentina is expecting a sharp reduction in the size of this year's crop. Australia also expected a steep increase in chickpea output, but the country mainly grows desi type, which generally do not compete directly with North American and Russian suppliers.
