Little Change in Birdseeds
PANAMA - Aug 14/20 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were mostly unchanged in seasonally light trading as the thinking of markets switched to harvest progress and prospective yields.
No progress was registered harvesting this year's Canadian canaryseed crop through the middle of August. That is not unusual. The harvest generally starts after the third week of August, making rapid progress in September as farmers finish with other crops.
The latest USDA crop report did not update seeded area estimates for birdseed ingredients, but the Farm Services Agency released its first report on the area for individual crops that farmer enrolled in USDA programs said they planted.
