PANAMA - Aug 8/20 - SNS -- Canada's lentil industry finished the 2019-20 marketing year on fumes, seemingly left with only bin sweepings on farms and in some commercial locations.
Exports of all classes of lentils through the end of June reached 2.562 million metric tons (MT), with at least 124,000 known to have been shipped in July. By the end of June, Canada was on target to finish its 2019-20 marketing campaign with exports hitting a record 2.73 million MT of all classes.
Available inventory data, suggests the 2019-20 ended with residual supplies of at least 110,000 metric tons (MT). At last year's production level, Canada would have negative domestic consumption.
