Some Optimism for Birdseed Demand
PANAMA - Aug 7/20 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets were largely unchanged during the week, while Canadian canaryseed was unaffected by the country's possible carry over from the 2019-20 marketing year.
Unofficial data suggests the season ended with at least 15,000 metric tons (MT) of canaryseed in all positions, down from 22,000 last year and below the recent five year average of 22,600.
At the same time, crop insurance data suggests last year's harvest was bigger than estimated by Statistics Canada, likely closer to 147,500 MT.
