Disease Worries Heighten in Chickpeas

PANAMA - Aug 7/20 - SNS -- North American chickpea markets were increasingly concerned about the impact disease problems will have on this year's production levels in Saskatchewan and parts of the United States.

However, this is not reflected in prices offered to farmers or inter-dealer markets.

Residual stocks remain at levels which suggest that unless there is a dramatic crop in average yields, processors and exporters will have potential access to enough product to cover prospective demand.
