Little Change In Peas

PANAMA - Jul 17/20 - SNS -- International field pea markets were little changed in seasonally light trading activity during the past week.

Inventories in most countries will remain relatively tight until this year's harvest gets underway, with many end users waiting for new crop to continue covering pending needs.

Some attention is being paid to food price inflation in India. After declining between January and March, the price of pulses in India's retail markets has increased steadily, reflecting supply chain disruptions resulting from efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The pulse price index dropped from 154.1 in January to 151.4 by March, but jumped to 158.3 in April and ended June at 159.2.

Overall food price inflation ended June at 3.05% per year, while annual pulse price inflation stood at 10.1% in June.
