N.A. Birdseed Availability Improves
PANAMA - Jun 30/20 - SNS -- Land in the major birdseed ingredients in North America is up over last year, led by a solid increase in plantings of sunflower seed in the United States and modest increases in canaryseed area in western Canada.
In the United States, seeded area for millet and all classes of sunflower are up over last year, while land in safflower declined.
The USDA pegged seeded area for oil type sunflower at 1.373 million acres, up from 1.197 million last year, while confection sunflower seedings advanced from 153,600 to 170,500 acres.
