Birdseed Area Rising in Canada
PANAMA - May 9/20 - SNS -- Canadian farmers intend to increase land in canaryseed this summer, with the Statistics Canada seeding intentions report suggested area will rise almost 8% to 275,600 acres.
Sunflower area is also expected to rise, jumping from 76,300 to 104,400 acres, well above the previous five year average of just 76,400 acres.
If yields are at their previous five year average, sunflower output would advance from 62,900 to 67,000 MT, while the canaryseed would reach 144,000 metric tons (MT).
