Peas Hold Firm Tone

PANAMA - Apr 24/20 - SNS -- International field pea markets maintained their firm tone during the past week, helped by relatively strong export movement.

Available data from the Canadian Grain Commission reveals bulk export clearances during April are up over March, increasing from a possible 92,500 metric tons (MT) last month to 121,000 MT through the week of April.

Deliveries by growers to the bulk handling system now total 69% of available stocks on their farms, compared to 65% during the same period last season. The implication is the quantity of peas remaining on farms to cover outstanding export commitments and all other sources of demand is less than was the case at this time last year.
